Over the past few days I have finally transitioned into phase 3. I'm so glad to be done with this round and so thankful for the 88.8 pounds I've lost thanks to hcg over the past year. This was a really tough decision for me to make but there are a few things that contributed to my decision to end this round.
1. I was really struggling with hunger and thus keeping my head in the game. I found myself cheating often which resulted in 3 weeks of my weight fluctuating from 146-150.
2. I started spotting for TOM on Sunday and really did NOT want to do another 2 weeks of the VLCD/hcg in order to end AFTER TOM.
3. I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror on Tuesday and realized that my chest FINALLY sticks out further than my belly.... first time that has been the case since pre-children 16 years ago! I realized that I looked good and can easily be content with this new smaller me. My body still has many problem areas, but I think it is time to just settle in to this weight.
4. My absolutely wonderful husband showered me with compliments and kisses on Tuesday when he got home from work which helped to confirm that the me that I am now is a good sized me. LOL! :-)
My last dose weight is 146.2 and I've stayed very close to that the past few days with the exception of today. My weight jumped to 149, which was NOT surprising because TOM decided to join me full force in the night. It will go back down within a day or 2.
I've struggled with "whats next"?? After much debating with myself I've decided that it is time to simply settle into me. So I'll enjoy my phase 3 and continue to research JUDDDing (Dr. Johnsons Up Day Down Day Diet)and the Leptin Rx. I have lab work scheduled for April 7th at which time I'll get an update as to how my thyroid is adjusting to this new weight. If my t3 is still way off.. .I may give the Leptin Rx a try. If it isn't I'll continue with phase 3 style eating until I'm ready to do something about these last 10 pounds. Hubby bought us a "Total Gym" so we will be starting to tone up once it arrives. It is very possible that once I start exercising that 145ish might just be the perfect place for me.
I think one statistic that is the best about this hcg journey is that in just 145 dieting days, which means 145 VLCD's I have lost about 89 pounds. That is an average of .6 pounds a day. That is really GREAT!! I'm so thankful that my VLCD days are over as I really do enjoy phase 3 eating! Now I can indulge in our abundant cream and lovely yellow butter. Today I made a stirred cream custard from our cream and about a dozen egg yolks that I had as a result of eating that egg bread the past couple days. The custard tastes amazing!
Oh... and to help myself control my addiction to Coconut Manna... I melted down 2 containers, added about 1 cup of coconut oil to each container, then measured out 1 tablespoon portions into tiny muffin papers. It is easier for me to grab just one and let it melt in my mouth, rather than sitting with the entire jar in front of me and eating spoon after spoonful (BAD BAD BAD!!). I plan to make some homemade coconut manna sometime this week, then some lovely CM lemon truffles.. if I find a recipe that works well I'll be sure to post it!
Final Stats:
February 14, 2011 - 235 pounds
February 25, 2012 - 146 pounds
Clothing sizes: 20 pants to loose classic 8 & loose skinny 10's. Tops XXL to Mediums and some smalls. Dresses 20 to size 10 or 12 depending on cut. Skirts size 20 to size 10's and some 8's.
I started my weight loss journey with a goal of weighing 155... and reached 146. YEAH!
To celebrate my weight loss and 40th birthday I'm getting a 30 minute massage AND a "Morning Coffee Ritual" at a spa in Sheboygan. I'll be pampered for 2 hours... then out to lunch with hubby. I've been putting a little money aside for the past couple months to save up. I've never had a massage before nor a body scrub, wrap, and oil application. I'm hoping that maybe for the first time in my life... I might just be able to .............Relax! :-)
Thanks so much for following my journey and I hope you stick around while I continue to post about our weight maintenance, health, and lots more nutrient dense recipes!
Reese Rambling: Rounds, Recipes, and Real Life will include posts about our families hcg protocol journey, protocol friendly recipes for all phases, as well as fun information about farming, gardening and family life.

Round 3 VLCD 53
No loss, no gain... stayed the same today. 146.2.
I increased my dose yesterday, which I know goes against the common recommendations for hcg use. However, I felt the need to try something to get the hunger to subside. I felt better yesterday, but still was hungry for much of the day unless I ate every 2 hours. Today I woke to no hunger which was a blessing but I was ready to eat at 10 a.m. so I had 1/2 my green smoothie then. I'll have the other half with a melba next time I'm hungry, then an apple with cinnamon, and chicken with asparagus for dinner.
Have a blessed day!

Round 3 VLCD 52
Today the scale was friendly with a -1 loss. I weighed in at 146.2 YEAH! BUT I was hungry for most of the day yesterday. I'll see how things go today. With such a great loss it makes me want to continue on a couple more days... BUT I'm really tired of being hungry. I changed my dose last night and this morning, we'll see if it helps. I've been drinking 1 gallon of water, 2 quarts of 1/2 & 1/2 coffee, AND 2-3 cups of hot tea throughout the day in order to try to keep the hunger at bay, to no avail. I guess my big struggle is that when I look in the mirror I SEE abnormal fat still... so I don't understand how the hcg could be telling me that all the fat is gone. Yet I've heard over and over for the past year that sometimes our idea of "goal" weight is very different than what a REAL goal weight should be for us. AND I have to keep in mind that I AM at a normal BMI for my height.... I know I keep saying that... but seriously... I have to continue to give myself permission to move on if that is what is best for my body..... and I have to get to the point where my thoughts and emotions are ok with whatever that Last Dose Weight is. I know it may sound silly to those still in the midst of their weight loss journey. But for me... to weigh in the 140's IS an absolute miracle. I never imagined I'd ever see that number on the scale, so I have to realize how far I've come and what a great place my body IS at. AND I have to stop obsessing over a "dream weight", and be willing to stop if it is best.
Sorry..... my rambling thoughts are probably driving you nuts and your shouting... JUST STOP ALREADY SHIRLEY.... well... maybe in some small way my struggles with the conclusion of this journey can be a blessing to you as you continue on through yours. And if anything I hope that you see that even "skinny" or people at goal sometimes struggle with the fact that they have reached the finish line.. even when the finish line was different than they had anticipated.
So, I'll continue to take it one day at a time.
Shirley: VLCD 52: Total round 3 loss: -26.4, Total NEW loss: -9.2, Total Hcg Loss: 88.8
Hubby Maintaining within 3 pounds of his LDW.
Teen Daughter solid as a rock again staying within 1 pound either side of her LDW.
Teen Son.... struggling and gaining.... we continue to pray that he will find a balance and realize that food is fuel not simply for pleasure.
Have a great day everyone!

Round 3 VLCD 51
Today I was down 1.2 which leaves me at 147.2... cheating NEVER pays. Hopefully tomorrow will see me in new territory or at the very least where I ended before I fell off the wagon! :-)
I'm feeling GREAT again today!
Started my day with a green smoothie. I drank 1/2 of it then put the other half in a mason jar filled to the tippy top and capped it. I was told that it is REALLY important to have as little air as possible in the jar so the nutrients won't be damaged while waiting for me to drink up the Yummies! Then put it in the fridge for lunch. I drank it and had my wasa toast for lunch. I'm struggling with hunger which I believe is a result of the cheating. :-( I'm hoping the hunger will pass soon... I've been hungry daily for the past 2 weeks... not fun! BUT this if my first week back on track so I hope it will pass soon, kinda like week 1 of the VLCD at the beginning of a round. I'm drinking lots of blueberry slim life tea and peppermint tea (with chocolate & vanilla cream stevia.. YUMMY).
Yesterday and today I wanted/want meat. Last night I had 100 grams of chicken over lettuce with my grassini as "croutons" and tangy mustard dressing. Tonight I will have 100 grams lean round steak with asparagus. I'm hoping that by doing only 1 green smoothie a day and 1 real protein source that my losses will be better than a typical vegetarian who only has the dairy or protein powder for their protein sources. Dr. S says they lose at 1/2 the rate of those who eat meat.
I'm still taking it one day at a time....and I'm ok with that!

Round 3 woes -- The Psycological Struggle
So... today I'm going to be horribly honest with you about what my life has been like the past 3 weeks. Sometime around my Planned Interruption I cracked. I started to struggle with the thought that I was at a normal BMI for the first time in my life. Struggle, you might say, WHY struggle? In my mind... I was "normal" for the first time EVER in my adult life. So I rushed into my planned interruption and did not follow my own rules. I ate whatever I felt like eating rather than sticking to phase 3 foods only, stopped weighing, stopped caring, stopped eating in a controlled manner, and thus... GAINED! Ugh!
THEN, when I entered back into phase 2, VLCD on February 6th.... I was STARVING and CRAVING!! WHY?? Because I had NOT stuck to phase 3 foods only so I threw my body totally out of whack. I ended up with another cold just a couple days into the VLCD which caused a stall and made me totally give up on being a protocol Stricty. I tried some very rogue ideas for the next 5-6 days and finally ended up eating anything fatty I could get my hands on for 2 days straight... all the time STILL taking my hcg. Do you know what happens when you take hcg and eat anything, everything, and especially FAT??? YOU GAIN!! I ended up back up at 150 again.
That night I cried... I bawled... I struggled through feeling like I was an absolute failure. I was a loser, a quitter and was letting myself AND everyone else down! I literally had a complete emotional break down and was going to quit... but hated myself for giving up at 150. I felt I had done this entire round for nothing stopping there, yet I felt like I could not face hcg and phase 2 (though I wasn't following the rules) for one more single solitary day. I fell apart and shared my struggles on one of my favorite yahoo groups: hcg2 and they overwhelmed me with support, encouragement, and care. I still went to bed not knowing what the next day would be for me... another cheat day, or would I have the nerve to get back on the VLCD and stick to it?? I woke up to see 150.6 on the scale.
I had struggled through finally giving myself permission to quit and move on to maintenance and use JUDDDing to get the rest off.... but all of a sudden I could not quit. I got my mo jo back and decided I wanted to have a green smoothie. Now, I have never in my life until that day, drank a green smoothie they always looked totally disgusting to me. BUT it was all I wanted. So I made a green smoothie:
1 cup kefired skim milk or 1 serving of protein powder
3 ounces frozen strawberries
5 ounces fresh baby spinach
stevia to taste, squirt of vanilla extract, and cinnamon
1/2 - 1 cup of water, until desired consistency
I loved it, drank it for breakfast and felt, GOOD for the first time in WEEKS. Then... hubby wanted to celebrate his first phase 4 day and took us out for lunch... I ate, no sugar no carbs, but ate fat..... Went home and felt like a smoothie for dinner, so I did. So another off protocol day.. but in a weird way I felt in control and ready to return to VLCD.
Since that day... I've been on track drinking smoothies 2 times a day and my weight is slowly dropping. Today though I decided on 1 smoothie and 1 protein/veggie/fruit serving like "normal". I'm not sure how much longer I will do the VLCD. I have finally worked through giving myself permission to quit on any day of my choosing whether or not I reach that magic number of 135. I MIGHT go all the way to March 8th and I MIGHT not. I've decided to take it one day at a time and if I start to struggle with staying on protocol, then that next day will be my last dose and I'll transition to phase 3.
What have I learned?
1. Stick with phase 3 eating ONLY while on a Planned Interruption.
2. By eating whatever on a PI it stirs up cravings and makes week 1 of the VLCD just as bad as week 1 at the beginning of phase 2 BUT without the load... which means it is REALLY tough!
3. Cheating with hcg in your system allows you to gain weight VERY quickly. AND makes strict VLCD'ing VERY hard afterwards because of increased hunger and cravings.
4. STOP doing phase 2 and move into phase 3, rather than cheat while on protocol.
5. I need to give myself permission to change my mind and alter my goals without feeling like a failure.
6. Rogue and altered versions of the VLCD do not work as well as the VLCD strict.
So out of the 50 days phase 2 I've really only followed the protocol well for about 35 days. :-( BUT I'm moving on and planning on finishing strong. I hope my failures do not provide an "excuse" for you to go off protocol but that they will help you to be committed to doing what you know it right and best for your HCG protocol success!

Round 3 VLCD 43-- 22 days left
WAHOO... down to 147.8... almost new territory. I landed on 147.6 for one day then bounced right back up.. so if this downward pattern continues that would be GREAT!
I'm feeling good and continue to notice the fat shifting. My body is slimming out in all the right area's. It has taken this round to see significant changes in my legs, and that baby belly is starting to diminish... I might get a close to flat tummy by the end of this round after all... or is that wishful thinking? LOL!

Round 3 VLCD 41-- 24 days left
So... I'm the lone phase 2er in the house now and today I was very happy to exceed my goal for the week! I started last Monday, day 1 back from the PI and was... GULP... 156.4.... today marks a full week back on phase 2 and a total loss for the week of 7.6, not bad... especially since I had a 3 day stall in there! :-)
I am down to 148.8, my LDW for the Planned Interruption was 149.8. WAHOO!!! Now... I did land on 147.6 for ONE measly day... the day before I took my last dose for the PI. I was so mad to see the scale shoot up to 149.8.. which pushed me into the PI.
Now... it is onward and forward....I'm so excited about this final leg of the journey, each pound gets me closer and closer to goal weight. I'm pumped and so excited to have my last ever hcg round count down.... 24 days left! If I reach my goal or extreme hunger that could all change... but I'm keeping the finish line in site and going to enjoy a daily countdown while the scale continue to moves downward!
My totals for this round:
VLCD 41 - 2 pounds, Total R3 loss: 23.8, Total NEW loss: -6.6 Total hcg loss -73... OK updating total hcg loss.. WHY??? I technically did a detox phase even before I ever heard of hcg. I did a colon cleanse, candida cleanse and the Eat Fat Lose Fat for health compromised diet, so technically did a phase 1 for about 6 weeks prior to starting phase 2. From now on I'm going to give myself credit for all that work included in this protocol loss.
So... my total hcg loss is: -86.2

Round 3 Weekly review
So, did you all think I fell off the face of the earth??? I guess I did sort of. This past week has been pretty tough and I don't like posting when I'm not in a pleasant frame of mind. It is my desire that this blog be a place where folks can come and be inspired, encouraged, and blessed. Doesn't mean I won't be honest but I think it is best to refrain from whining daily if I'm in a whiny mood... like I was this past week.
This past week I re-entered the VLCD on Monday, after my week long Planned Interruption. I don't know if I had mentioned earlier that I did NOT abide by the phase 3 rules and I gained. The gain alone was not bad enough.... this week the mental and physical struggles I've had being back on the VLCD have been AWFUL!! I've was starving..... like wanting to eat both arms and a leg starving until yesterday. Yesterday and today have been MUCH better. The hunger was bad, but the mental battle being back on the VLCD... missing my cream.... eating lettuce PLAIN... AGAIN.... and missing my butter... was REALLY bad! My mind set is better now and I'm looking forward to completing this round. I'm being a bit rogue but am not ready to post about it here. If all goes well.. then I'll tell you a few months down the road, if not......... I'll post my regrets. :-) For now I'm keeping that 135 pound number in the front of my brain and am anxious to see the 140's click away so I can get there!
Since re-entering the VLCD I've lost 5.6 pounds. I stalled for THREE long days due to another head cold (((SNIFF)) or the losses would have been much better I'm sure. I have 1 pound to go to get to my pre-PI LDW, then onward and forward!
My teen daughter took her last dose yesterday morning and is ending her round with a LDW of 142. She began her hcg journey this spring weighing almost 190. I'm very proud of her! She is looking forward to bacon and eggs on Tuesday!
Hubby is maintaining well. He is on his second CD in 2 weeks so far. We think it is tied to not enough water the day before and finding a better balance for him re: his daily food intake. He is on his last week of Phase 3. :-)
Teen son lost 2 pounds this week still leaving him above his +2 of his last round. BUT he just does NOT care. We still will not allow him to just eat "whatever". If we did he would easily be back into the obesity sphere which is not good for his health. He's the type of kid that would eat four plates full of food at a meal and ask for a fifth. So we are still giving out some tough love, trying to help him make good choices and STOP when he has had enough. We have to tell him to stop eating every single meal because he ALWAYS wants more. Believe me... we allow him to eat plenty, but will not give him free reign yet on food.
So... I alone am in phase 2 for the Reese Clan... for about another 25 days... give or take. I am looking forward to the week where the finish line is in view!
Hope you all have a GREAT week, no matter what phase you are in.

Back in the Saddle
My Planned interruption was WONDERFUL! I enjoyed all the fatty, creamy foods I've missed. BUT it is time to re-enter VLCD land and get to goal weight! I did NOT abide by phase 3 rules. I ate sugar, starch, and everything else. I did NOT eat a TON of sugar & starch, but some and ended up with about a 6 pound gain... YIKES! If this is anything like my first PI back in round 1 that will come of in about 2-3 days then I'll be in new loss territory again. I'll be pushing my water today and making sure that all plumbing is working well to aid my body in quickly removing this excess weight!
Right now my plan is to do the VLCD/Rx hcg until March 10th. That day will be my last dose day whether or not I'm at goal weight. I really think I'll be at goal or within spitting distance by then so it will be a perfect time to transition to phase 3. I'll be on phase 4 by my 40th birthday and ready to move into life time maintenance mode!
Have a great week!

Round 3 VLCD 38/PI/Ph3/JUDDD
So, are you totally confused now after reading today's title line?
Teen Daughter is on VLCD 38: -2.4 Total R3 loss -21 Total NEW loss: -4.4 Total hcg loss: -39. She only has about 1 week left of the VLCD/hcg to get in 21 VLCD/hcg days post interruption.
I am still on my Planned Interruption and haven't weighed for a couple days. I'll transition back into the VLCD/hcg on Tuesday.
Phil just returned from a week of Sharepoint Classes in downtown Chicago. He ate at the hotel or restaurants the entire week. He stuck with phase 3 compliant choices, did a lot of walking, and when he weighed this morning.... he was .4 UNDER his LDW! AMAZING!!! Stable as a rock!
Teen Son has been having problems this last week with his weight really climbing. He has been above the +2 zone for about a week now. I've been doing researching on a WOE (Way Of Eating) called the JUDDD = Johnson Up Day Down Day, or the Alternative Day eating plan. Here is a link to Dr. Johnsons website:
http://www.johnsonupdaydowndaydiet.com/
and a forum of people doing this WOE:
http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/juddd/
I discussed how this WOE works with my son and he wants to give it a try. His Down Day's will start at 500 calories and he wants to eat VLCD style since he is familiar with it. His up days he will get to consume up to 2400 calories based on his current weight, height and age. We'll see how it goes. He thinks that since he gets to eat "normal" every other day that he will stick with the down days. It is worth a try since he is now at about 189.8 pounds and he is only 5'8". He does not have a lot of muscle tone, so he looks heavy and his weight really slows him down. He cannot run and play and has very little endurance for sport activities. He really wants to play foot ball this fall and be competitive. I know if he could get off another 20-25 pounds and build muscle he'd have a great season AND feel so much better about himself. :-)
I let hubby try the Coconut Manna... and he doesn't like it... insert evil laugh.. HEE HEE HEE HAA HAA HAA... it's all MINE! :-)
Have a super day!

Round 3 VLCD 34/PI/Ph3
Our dear daughter is the only one on the VLCD this week. Hubby is off on a business trip and enjoying phase 3 and I am loving my Planned Interruption.
Today I discovered a new food love: Coconut Manna
http://www.amazon.com/Nutiva-Organic-Coconut-Manna-15-Ounce/dp/B004T80BYE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328052397&sr=8-1
or
http://www.vitacost.com/productResults.aspx?x=15&y=23&ntk=products&ss=1&Ntt=coconut%20manna
I ordered it a couple weeks ago and got to sample it for my dessert this evening. I warmed it in front of our heat duct, mixed until creamy, and took a spoonful. The mouth feel of this coconut manna is similar to peanut butter... but since coconut and coconut oil are SOOOOO good for us... this is a treat you can indulge in completely guilt free! It would taste fabulous spread on celery, apples, or other fruit, but really.... off the spoon it is the BEST! I'll be enjoying a couple tablespoons a day while on my planned interruption and will have to indulge again once I get into phase 3 & 4. YUMMY! :-) SHHHHH... I don't think I'm going to let ANYONE from my family sample this... it is to decadent to share. Well... maybe I'll let hubby.... maybe.... maybe..... :-)
Not much for today's stats but here ya go:
Me: Planned Interruption and stable.
Teen Daughter VLCD 34 - .8 Total Round 3 loss: -18.6, Total NEW loss: -2 Total hcg loss: 36.6

Round 3 VLCD 33/31
I am NOT happy today... for some reason I woke to a 1.6 GAIN! GRRRR! That is the LAST straw. I'm transitioning into a Planned Interruption through at least Feb 7th. I'll resume the VLCD sometime between the 8th and 10th to do another 21-30 days or so VLCD to reach my goal. Teen Daughter is thrilled b/c she will get ahead of me. I'm thrilled b/c I am so tired of making 3-4 different meals for each meal time for the littles who can have starch/grains, my autistic son who is GF/CF, my phase 3 son and those of us on the VLCD. UGHHH!!! I have enough VLCD food in the freezer/house for teen daughter to fend for herself next week... then I can just make 1 meal for the rest of us.
So... I'm ignoring today's weight... not even going to acknowledge it in print... yep... DENIAL!
Today's weights:
Shirley.... what weight?? I'll be considering myself stuck on day 33 and will resume with day 34 VLCD once the interruption is over. I'll post about how to do a Planned Interruption that will allow you to maintain or even lose a little sometime over these next few days.
Teen Daughter: -.2 Total R3 loss: -18.4 New Loss - 1 Total hcg loss: 36.4
Teen Son... only .2 above the +2 of his LDW window... so he is tiptoeing through the day food wise hoping to come down or he'll be doing a CD tomorrow.
Hubby is .8 above his LDW, but not really worried... he is HUNGRY. So we continue to adjust his intake accordingly per protocol.
Have a GREAT Saturday everyone!

Round 3 VLCD 33/30
Yesterday was a huge psychological struggle for me... I think b/c hubby is at goal and wrapping up phase 2, my head was trying to fight for the right to do the same. I had so much what I "thought" was hunger. Today I woke to another loss on the scale and a different mind set. Being just 12 pounds away from goal.. I'm pushing forward... at least for today! :-) I can easily change my mind at any point and choose to trantition into a Planned Interruption... but for now I'm sticking with the VLCD. If I continue to lose at the rate I am I may reach my goal by February 14th. That would be HUGE!! Why? Last February I weighed 235.... if I reach goal by then I'll be 135.... ONE HUNDRED POUNDS lighter! That thought made me really excited today and for some reason.. I'm not hungry... see I told ya that head or psychological hunger can be a killer!! :-)
Teen Daughter and I weighed in at EXACTLY the same weight this morning. :-)
Here are today's stats:
Shirley VLCD 33: -.8, Total R3 loss: 25, Total NEW loss: -7.8, Total hcg loss: -74.2
Teen Daughter VLCD 30: -.4 Total R3 loss: -18.2 Total NEW loss: -.8, Total hcg loss: 36.2
Now I'm off to make Phase 3 compliant Grain Free Granola and some power protein bars for hubby to take on his trip next week.... I'll post recipes later! :-)

Round 3 VLCD 32/29
First I must appologize to those who have asked questions in the comments sections under various posts. For some reason "blogger" is not allowing me to respond to these questions. So I'm going to try to do so here really quickly, at least the ones I remember:
1. The one who asked about stevia in the sparkling water. Our family loves the sweetleaf stevia.. so we may use more than you like. In 2 cups we use about 12-16 drops, usually it is more than one flavor. Rootbeer & Vanilla cream (equal amounts of each), Vanilla Cream and Valencia Orange (equal amounts of each), Chocolate and Vanilla Cream (equal amounts of each), Rootbeer, Vanilla cream (cream soda), etc. Start low and work your way up. Just gently stir your soda after adding 4-6 drops then add more to taste.
2. Someone posted that they saw some foods that cause concern on my phase 3 list of foods. Cheese, nuts, and dairy can cause issues for some people. That is why I recommend that folks start with no more than 1 ounce of cheese a day. Same with the nuts, 1 oz a day for starters to see how your body responds. Milk.... I never recommend Milk during phase 3 unless it has been kefired at home to reduce/remove the sugar content (store bought kefir has added sugar so is a NO NO). I do recommend lots of heavy whipping cream or raw cream if you are lucky enough to have a source in your area.
3. Mustard. I use prepared mustard and have found many brands that do not list sugar in the ingredient list. Just read the bottles and you will find many options. I usually opt for he cheap no name store brands if they are sugar free.
Ok..... now that the legistics are done.... on for todays MAJOR highlights!!
Hubby.... REACHED GOAL! Today he weighed in at 184.8, his goal was 185. He is also noticing a LOT of hunger. I think both he and the hcg agree that his normal fat is GONE. He still wishes to tone up, which he will do starting in phase 3 or 4. I'm so proud of him and am so thankful that he has supported me through our hcg journey. Since he is experiencing hunger.... lots he will do what the protocol says to do when all abnormal fat has been consumed and increase his calories to 800-1000 during his VLCD no hcg transition days. He will do this by eating more of the allowed hcg foods like an extra serving of protein and an extra fruit for breakfast each day. He is very excited to dive into our home made smoked bacon and breakfast sausage Sunday morning which will be his first Phase 3 day. :-)
I reached a new decade on the scale. The 140's. I have not been in the 140's since I was in 8th grade. I was so excited to see the number 148.4 on my scale this morning. My BMI is and has been for a few pounds now... in the NORMAL range... I have NEVER been in the normal range, well at least not since 9th grade. It feels good to be "normal" for the first time ever!! :-)
Teen Daughter is now into NEW loss territory. She has lost all the weight she gained over the holidays and her load weight so now onward and forward to goal weight! She is still ahead of me by .4 on the scale.... it is a race to 135! :-)
Today's weights:
Shirley VLCD 32: 148.4 -1.8 Total R3 loss: -24.2 Total NEW loss: -7 Total hcg loss: 73.4
Hubby Last dose weight day 29VLCD: 184.8: - 1.8 Total R2 loss: 28.2 Total NEW loss: 9.8 Total Hcg loss in just 65 VLCD dieting days: 45.2 pounds AMAZING!!! By the way... I love telling people that I have lost 73 pounds in just 125 dieting days... their comment is always... THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE!!! I then explain that I didn't diet 125 days straight but the protocol works in about 40 day increments with lots of time to maintain in between. It usually peaks their interest then they ask for more details. :-) Ok... back to stats:
Teen Daughter VLCD 29: 148 -.6 Total R3 loss: -.4 Total hcg loss: -35.8
Hope you are all having a GREAT day in whichever phase you are in!

Round 3 VLCD 30/27
HOORAY! My SEVEN day stall has FINALLY broke! The scale moved away from 152 ish. I'm so thankful. I had it in my head that I was gonna be stuck there for maybe another week. In Pounds & Inches Dr. Simeons explains that when we hit a previous set point with weight sometimes we can stall for up to 14 days. He also explains that the common cold can cause a stall. I have had both going on. I have not weighed less than 155 for years.... like since Jr. High. I hit 155 in 9th grade. So every ounce below that is very new to my body and I expect these last 15 pounds to take a while to go away. I was very encouraged this morning to see 150.8 on the scale! It is possible that I'll bounce around here at the 150 ish point for a few days then see it go down again. That can be a typical pattern when close to goal weight.
Another highlight for me is that I am no longer overweight. My BMI is now in the "normal" range for my height. THAT is very EXCITING. PLUS, I have reached a grand total of 71 pounds lost since April 25th. I had lost 13 pounds in the 2 months prior to doing hcg so my total pounds lost since Feb 14 is............84 POUNDS! I'm completely shocked and VERY thankful that the Lord allowed me to stumble upon that hcg article by Dr. Mercola in April! I was just looking at my measurements and realized I've lost 10 inches in my waist, 6 inches on each thigh, and lots of inches in other places too.... but those two really stood out to me as GREAT accomplishments. I've gone from a size 20 in pants to a size 8 classic fit and 10 skinny jeans both of which are loose now. I'm started to settle into this new size and realize that I'm here to stay. On days I feel bloated I get so nervous to look in the mirror because I'm afraid I'm going to see my 220 pound self in the mirror. I was talking with myself the other day and realized that.. it isn't going to happen! The positive changes that we have made in our diet are going to allow me to maintain my weight loss with ease. I absolutely LOVE weighing 35 pounds less than my husband... instead of 5-10 pounds less, and there have been times in our 16 year marriage that we weighed the SAME.... SHRIEK!. By the time I reach goal I'll be almost 50 pounds less than him! Ok.... enough excited babbling... hope you've enjoyed seeing my silly thought patterns about accepting the new me. :-)
Today's weights:
Shirley VLCD 30: -1.6 Total R3 loss: -21.8 Total NEW loss: -4.6 Total hcg loss: -71
Teen Daughter VLCD 27: -.4 Total R3 loss: -16.8 Total hcg loss -34.8
Hubby VLCD 27: -2.2 Total R2 loss: -26.4 Total NEW loss: -8 Total hcg loss: -43.4
Hubby is only 1.6 away from his goal weight! He is still averaging .97 loss a DAY! MEN!!! :-)
Have a great day all!

Round 3 VLCD 28/25
It has been a rough week health wise. We had the flu, as you know, then on Friday I started to come down with a head cold. I have discovered first hand that as Dr. Simeons says, a "common cold" can cause a stall. I have not weighed daily but did get on the scale today to find that I'm still in the 152 point whatever range. I hit 152.8 on the 17th and have bounced around between 152 & 152.4 on the various days I have gotten on the scale. I will weigh tomorrow then maybe on Thursday or I'll just wait until Next Monday, depending on how I'm feeling this week. I could stall for another complete week with the help of this cold. :-(
Hubby has been stalled the past couple days too after a large drop. Stress has been a factor this week too. This cold weather makes it tough on the herd and the milk system is not functioning optimally, we have having to do the cleaning manually which takes a lot of time, plus if we are not careful to empty the water out of the system it freezes, which makes the next morning's work much more difficult.
Hubby is on his last days of the VLCD. He wanted to end at 185, and is currently 188.8. He will take his last dose on the day he hits 185 or on Thursday. He has to travel for work next week which would make the VLCD very difficult, so moving on to phase 3 is the best option. He is now at a normal BMI for his 6'2" body, looks great, feels good and is ready to move on into lifetime maintanence.
Teen Daughter had a blast at her teen over nighter. She chose to do a Planned Interruption and eat whatever she wanted within reason. She did avoid sugar, but ate 2 pieces of pizza, chips and a little bit of potatoes fried in lard over her 2 day PI. I told her that if she chose to eat carbs/sugar/starch she may gain. But it was her choice. She ended up losing weight over her PI. AMAZING! So proud of her for being reasonable with her choices. She is back on the hcg/VLCD as of this morning.
So here are our current stats:
Shirley VLCD 28: -.4 Total R3 loss: -20.2, Total NEW loss: -3 Total hcg loss: -69.4
Teen Daughter VLCD 25: -1.4 Total R3 loss: -15 Total hcg loss: -33
Hubby VLCD 25: -0 Total R2 loss: -24.2, Total hcg loss: -41.2
Hope you have a GREAT day... I'll be here hugging my kleenex box and wearing multiple layers because I AM FREEZING!!!

Round 3 VLCD 25/22 -- What do you get when.........
What do you get when.......... you have the flu... a house full or kids recovering from the flu..... stress... 2 arrhythmia episodes (I usually have 1 a month, almost never 2 in one day!)..... a frozen milk system.... stress.... lack of water...... etc.... a GAIN! Yep, yesterday's adventures left us heavy on the scale this morning. Hubby had a much larger gain than I but we both gained none the less. Thankfully all the kids are doing great and off to school today. Hubby and I feel TON better and life goes on!! Now to get caught up on ALL the laundry. Since we were all sick, I'm washing ALL the bedding, not to mention cleaning bathrooms, sanitizing surfaces, etc. If I only had a dryer that worked it would be a bit easier. Instead, every laundry basket will be filled plus I'm sure I'll have several garbage bags worth of wet bedding which will all be waiting for hubby to get home tonight so I can run to the laundromat to dry it all. BUT at least we will have clean bedding AND clean clothes and hopefully get through the rest of the winter without any more flu bugs! :-)
Today's report:
Shirley: +.8 Total R3 loss: -19.8 Total NEW loss: -2.6 Total hcg loss: -69

Round 3 VLCD 24/21
The Reese house has the flu bug... in FULL force. One of the littles came home from school on Monday complaining of a belly ache which led to vomiting and diarrhea by the evening. He stayed home from school yesterday. Last night one of the middles started to throw up much to his dismay b/c he was supposed to go tubing today with his class at school. All last night hubby and I could hear what we THOUGHT was the middle running to the bathroom all night. However, when he went up to wake the children for school he learned that all of them, all 5 who who didn't have it Monday night DID have it last night. So today we have a house full of sick children. I'm letting them rest through the day then will attack the laundry and germs latter this afternoon. Hubby isn't feeling the best either... hope he can hang in there long enough to help me milk the cows this morning. :-(
A friend asked me what the NEW loss stands for on our daily log. NEW loss means completely new pounds lost doing hcg. We had each gained in December with the holidays and loading, so much of what we have lost already was weight lost on our previous hcg round. NEW loss = weight that is completely new territory for us. For me... I stabilized about 5 pounds above my LDW, from round 2, but am still only counting my NEW loss as pounds below the official LDW not where I stabilized. Hope that is clear as mud for you all now! :-)
For me personally every ounce lost is the lowest I've ever been in my adult life! In 9th grade I hit 155 and stayed there through my freshman year of college. So all this NEW weight is completely new territory for my adult body.
Today's weights:
Shirley: -.8 Total R3 loss: -20.6 Total NEW loss: -3.4 Total hcg loss: 69.8
Hubby: -2.6 Total R2 loss: 22.6 Total NEW loss: -4.2 Total hcg loss: 39.6
I realized just now that I think I've been marking hubby as "Total R3 loss:" BUT this is only his second round... sorry about that! So in 2 rounds he is up to almost 40 pounds loss. :-)
Have a great day all... hope your household is healthier than ours! :-)

Round 3 VLCD 23/20
Thank you to each of you who have emailed me privately your little victories! It is so encouraging to hear other peoples success stories!
Yesterday I went to Kohl's and got myself a new winter coat. I have not bought a NEW winter coat for YEARS. I've always wanted a brown one with a "fur" edged hood. Coats were 60% off PLUS hubby had a coupon for another 15% off. YEAH! AND.... It was a Medium... a MEDIUM!!! I bought it b/c I know my shoulders will NEVER fit into a small even if I get to goal weight, my bone structure is large. It was SOOO Fun! I also tried on bathing suits b/c I need to get a new one this year and fit nicely into a size 10! I don't know that a 8 will fit even when I reach goal b/c my rib cage is 35" and there isn't much fat left on it. It was fun trying on clothes in sizes I never dreamed I'd be in! I'm only 2.6 pounds less than where I ended my 2nd round but clothes are fitting very differently. The fat is on the move! I'll probably measure once I hit the 140's and see what my inch loss has been.
Today is VLCD soup day! I made a large pot of celery soup, a pot of green onion soup, and as soon as one of those are cool enough to bag and freeze I'll make taco soup. I also made a large cabbage salad today. Once the taco soup is done I'll be caught up on phase 2 ready meals for a couple weeks, Whew! :-)
Today's weights:
Shirley: -1.4 Total R3 loss 19.8 Total NEW loss -2.6: Total hcg loss: -69
Teen Daughter: -.6 Total R3 loss: -13 Total hcg loss: -31
Hubby: +.8 Total R3 loss: -20 Total NEW loss: -1.6 Total hcg loss: -37
